The advantage of festivals is that one can always find something to watch or do. Walking around the whole day does exhaust the body, which is why the third day of the Nova Rock Festival started a little later for some people. Those who arrived early could do a little warm-up with Deine Cousine. The artist came down in the pit and did push-ups together with the crowd. What a fun way to get the morning – well, afternoon for non-festival-goers – going!
Despite the still-tired crowd, the day was going to be one for the history books. Refused played the main stage one last time, as they are currently doing their farewell tour. Instead of a video screen, they used a simple black and white banner in the background stating, “This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal”. The singer wore a red see-through mesh blouse. While his outfit could also be worn by Harry Styles, he put out moves like Mick Jagger.

They were followed by a band leaning more into the heavy rock music, Airbourne. The fans were now definitely woken up, getting up on each other’s shoulders to celebrate and reflect the band’s energy. Because they brought the fire on stage. Not quite literally, but in spirit. Every member turned up the heat and pushed the crowd to give their all.
Meanwhile, on the other stage, another historic moment was happening. Irie Révoltés played their first concert since their break in 2017. The band from Germany sings and raps in German and French. After having released a new single last year, they played all their famous hits. Starting with ‘Allez!‘, they were an instant crowd favourite. Their music is easy to dance to. People were swinging their hats and sunglasses, and throwing their stuffed animals in the air. Also, the band took the time to talk about their stance on the world’s politics and were cheered on by the crowd.

On the blue stage, the heavy music bells were continuing to ring. Lorna Shore came on stage accompanied by heavy fog. The singer Will Ramos walked out screaming to get the mosh pits going – and how they went on! Multiple mosh pits were already running before he even sang or screamed a single note. After the first few minutes, though, it was obvious to everybody that this man was as talented as his curls were curling up! From dark screams to high-pitched melodies, he was a musical machine. Still, he had time to take the crowd in, stating it was the biggest one they had yet played in front of.
On the red stage, Biffy Clyro not only impressed with their soulful music, but also displayed a very colourful lightshow and set design. The band could not stop smiling, interacting with each other and the crowd.

As the sun was setting, it was the perfect time to check out one of Nova Rock’s many activities – the bungee jumping tower. Up from the 60-meter tower, it was possible to get a good overview of the huge festival ground, the background being highlighted by windmills.
Slipknot were this day’s headliner on the main stage. The excited crowd gathered around the masked band. Wherever one stood, it was impossible not to move. On the other stage, Folkshilfe and SDP closed the evening, musically speaking, more to the locals of the country. And if one still had energy, they could watch the set of Powerwolf, who had a late-night slot on the main stage!
All in all, the third day of Nova Rock offered music for everybody. From traditional, Ska, Reggae, Alternative, Indie to Rock, Nu Metal and Heavy Metal – every music lover had something to enjoy. The full photo gallery can be found here.
