Live Review: OceanFromTheBlue in Antwerp

On Monday, September 18th, OceanFromTheBlue visited Kavka Zappa in Antwerp, Belgium. This is the first European tour for the South-Korean singer. Starting out in his parents’ basement, he is now playing shows all over Europe.

The show had no support act, so no waiting around to see the artist everyone came to see. Even though the venue was barely filled, the crowd still had a good time. OceanFromTheBlue songs are a mix of Korean and English.

The singer did not come alone, as he brought his band to share the stage with. It was a bit of an unusual sight, since the band had a DJ and two drummers. The sound was a bit weak at the start, but that did not take away from the fact that the singer had a beautiful voice and the crowd was enjoying every minute of it.

Halfway through the set the band left the stage and only the DJ and singer stayed. From here they kicked it up a notch and played more up-tempo songs. The crowd definitely liked this and immediately started dancing. His energy was amazing and with every new song he got stronger. After a few songs the band came back and the party kept going on.

The singer is dearly loved by his fans, as he received several gifts from fans. Stuffed animals were being thrown on stage for him. At one point the singer took off his shirt, which revealed a lot of tattoos. This made the crowd scream even louder. There was a bit of a language barrier with the singer barely speaking English, but he tried his best with the English he did know. He luckily did understand that the fans wanted some acapella songs. They got to shout out the songs they wanted.

Overall the vibes were good and the fans were very enthusiastic to see their favorite artist on his first European tour. Let’s hope we gave him a good impression and he wants to come back soon!
