When we arrived at AFAS Live on November 23rd, 2025, there were already about 50 people queuing up for Wolf Alice. It felt special knowing the band was playing this sold out venue for the first time. Even an hour after the doors opened, the venue was not even half full yet, but that did not matter. People were chatting happily, swaying and gently dancing to the preshow playlist while everyone waited excitedly for the opener, Florence Road.
Florence Road, an Irish rock band formed in Bray, County Wicklow in 2019, kicked off the night. The band is made up of lead singer and guitarist Lily Aron, guitarist Emma Brandon, bassist Ailbhe Barry, and drummer Hannah Kelly, and their sound blends indie rock, alternative rock, and grunge pop. They ran onto the stage to huge cheers and went straight into their first songs, ‘Figure Me Out’ and ‘Hand Me Downs’. After that, Lily welcomed the crowd and told everyone how excited they were to be there. She introduced the band, and they moved into ‘Miss’, smiling wide as they soaked up the applause.
They followed that with ‘Something’, which ended with an amazing guitar solo by Emma that got a big reaction. Lily then announced their latest single, ‘Storm Warning’. During ‘Heavy’, the whole crowd was gently swaying and lightly bouncing along, and the song slowed at the end into a beautiful acoustic outro with just piano and vocals. After a quick guitar switch, Lily introduced ‘Caterpillar’, and then they went heavier with ‘How Does It Make You Feel’. When it was time for ‘7563’, bassist Ailbhe thanked the crowd and kept repeating how grateful they were to be there. She also told everyone they would be at the merch stand after the show to say hi.
They rolled straight into ‘Break The Girl’, and during the quieter part of the chorus, the crowd started cheering loudly. Lily asked everyone to sing along, and the whole room joined in. She thanked the crowd once again, also thanked Wolf Alice, and then introduced their last song of the night before saying goodnight and leaving the stage to strong applause.
After a short changeover, it was finally time for Wolf Alice. The band, an English rock band from London, started back in 2010 with singer Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie, and later added drummer Joel Amey and bassist Theo Ellis. For this tour, they were joined on keys by Ryan Malcs, who is originally the band’s producer and songwriter. The show started with ominous, suspenseful music filling the room before the band walked on stage and launched straight into ‘Thorns’. Without missing a beat, they moved into ‘Bloom’.

Theo immediately took charge of the crowd, telling everyone to move their hips as they started ‘White Horses’. He got everyone clapping, dancing, and jumping, and that energy carried right into ‘Formidable’. Things slowed down a bit with ‘Just Two Girls’, followed by ‘Leaning Against The Wall’. Theo then shouted “Amsterdam” and asked the crowd to sing along for ‘How can I make it okay’, and the crowd did not hesitate. The whole crowd instantly joined in for ‘The Sofa’, singing along without hesitation.
Theo shared a story about how 10 years ago the band played a tiny venue in the Netherlands, how they were terrible and played too fast, but people kept coming back anyway, and how much that still means to them. He said he could see everyone, even at the back and up on the balcony, and told everyone to start jumping for ‘Bros’. The energy in the room lifted even more, and ‘You’re A Germ’ sent the crowd into total chaos.
Ellie then brought the boys in close for a more intimate, acoustic version of ‘Safe From Heartbreak’. They smoothly moved into ‘Safe In The World’, and then into ‘Bread Butter Tea Sugar’. A siren suddenly went off, and the band exploded into ‘Yuk Foo’. The crowd went absolutely mental, jumping, headbanging, and dancing their hearts out. The madness only grew when they launched into ‘Play The Greatest Hits’.
The pace eased up again with ‘Silk’, and the crowd gave them a huge cheer. Ellie shyly thanked everyone and said she could not believe they were playing such a big venue, mentioning that this was their biggest show so far on a European headline tour. She introduced ‘Play It Out’, and then they powered through the last song before the encore, ‘Smile’. They left the stage with a bang, and the crowd immediately started screaming for more.
After a short break, Wolf Alice returned for the encore. During ‘Last Man On Earth’, a fan pointed at Theo, and he responded by making hand hearts back, which got a big reaction. Ellie thanked the crowd and their opener, Florence Road, once more, and told everyone she hoped to see them again soon. They closed the night with their final song, ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’, ending the show on an emotional and unforgettable note.
