Michael Marcagi playing his first headline show in Hamburg

On Tuesday, January 27th Michael Marcagi played a packed show in Hamburg at the Uebel und Gefährlich as part of the ‘2026 EU/UK winter tour’. He performed in Hamburg before, as a support. However, this show was his first headline in the city.

Evan Honer, an artist from Arizona, USA opened the show for him. Smiling faces spread over the room, even before his set.

As Evan stepped on stage, he thanked the crowd for coming down to the show early, also mentioning that it was his first time in Hamburg! He started his set with the song ‘Nowhere Fast’ and then introduced the song ‘Place I Hate’, explaining how the lyrics relate to him missing his dog Bruno. The crowd sang along enthusiastically during ‘me, without you’, then followed by ‘Brother’, a song which narrates his brother’s experience with his schizoaffective, schizophrenic and bipolar disorders. This meaningful song was created as a way for Evan to try and understand his brother’s struggles. Then the up-tempo songs ‘Long Road’, and ‘Fighting For’ followed.

Evan took the audience along with the story of a man sung in ‘Mr. Meyers’. Before ending his set with the song ‘idk shit about cars’, he thanked Michael once more for having him at the shows, reiterating his appreciation for him and his team.

He thanked the fans, mentioned that he will be at the merch stand and walked off stage, accompanied by loud applause!

Michael’s set’s intro started. His band; Kyle Emerson (multi-instrumentalist), Jacob Thomas Junior (keys), Dillon Napier (drums) and Ryan Tullock (bass) took the stage alongside him, wearing a FC St. Pauli jersey (one of Hamburg’s football clubs). They started the set with the song ‘The Other Side’, followed by ‘Keep Me Honest’ and ‘American Romance’.

Michael expressed his deep gratitude to the crowd for showing up. He mentioned being ‘1 week into this European tour’ and said this show was ‘ the most memorable show’, mostly because of how interesting of a venue Uebel und Gefährlich is to him.

Him and his band also played the songs ‘Good Enough’ and ‘Follows You’. Michael explained that ‘Humbling’ was written about him having to live with his mother for the past 2 years because of a lack of housing and car and Evan joined him on stage to perform.

He talked about him having ‘yet to release a full length record’, and about his upcoming debut album Under The Street Lights, set to release on February 6th. The crowd then got to experience the new song ‘Loose Ends’ live, as a glimpse into the record.

Michael thanked the audience once again, additionally expressing gratitude on behalf of his band. He shared that being on tour in europe meant taking a break from the heavy political climate in the USA, stating: ‘it gets us out of our weird fucked up country for a little bit’ which created a roar of approval and support from the crowd.

‘Scared To Start’ was the last song before the encore: ‘Midwest Kid’, and as final closer, ‘Savannah‘. Both fans and performers visibly had fun through the entire night, sharing a moment to remember. Michael and his band continuously showed being truly grateful about being able to tour and to perform on stage. This night was definitely a live show to check out!
