Noah Finnce is a transgender musician from Buckinghamshire, England. Noah Finnce began his social media journey on Instagram, showing his support for his favourite musicians and actors. However, he posted his first YouTube video in 2017 a cover of ‘Stand by Me’ by Ben E. King. His YouTube journey continued from there, with informative videos about his transition journey, calling out bigots, challenges, and covers.
He released his first single called ‘Asthma Attack’ in 2018, and he gained a lot of attention for his relatable honesty and unique sound. He’s a musician who means a lot to me as a young trans guy, especially as he is so honest, using his music to show people they are not alone, as well as to call out the hurtful things around the world.
‘Scumbag’ is a perfect depiction of the frustration and hurt you feel as a trans individual, especially with the rise in transphobic rhetoric, bigotry, and spreading of false information. It’s a song that feels really healing to sing along to. With the heavy drums and guitar, this song is a real head banger. The lyrics are exactly what you wish to say but couldn’t find the words for, it’s a song that makes you want to get up and do so much more to advocate for the amazing trans individuals being targeted right now.
The final verse is my favourite: it speaks about the fact that “joy can be found in the dark” and the importance of not being ashamed of who you are and so much more. This is a song for blaring and singing along to. Make sure to add it to all your angsty and queer playlists!
