On the third and final day of Frequency Festival, it was still hot, but not as humid as the other days. The day started with the opener on the main stage, Beth McCarthy. She totally blew the crowd away. What a powerful performance! She gave her all on stage.
Next up, we took a peek at Joost’s set, which seemed like a lot of fun. Switching stages, we caught Sam Tompkins, who created a pleasant atmosphere during his set. Then, we took the time to take a look at the Red Bull Stage for the first time. There, the Viennese band Up Close started the day. From the first second on, they gave their all, kicking and jumping around, getting the crowd to move along. Later, Calum Bowie performed there, who played in front of a very full hall, as it had started to rain and people were seeking shelter. Bowie made music one could hold up lighters and sway back and forth to.
In contrast to that followed ThxSoMch, where mosh-pits were running hot. His set made it easy to instantly become a fan. He put on a very energetic and sweaty performance. His dedication to the craft left a big impression on the crowd, showing his potential to become a rising new artist.
Next followed Paula Hartmann, another German artist. For the first few songs, she stood on a castle, shrouded in fog. Her performance took the crowd by surprise, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. In general, her performance felt very genuine and like a safe space to have fun and not be afraid to get jumped at by people bigger than yourself.
As the rain was slowly coming to an end, it was finally nice enough weather to take a ride on the ferris wheel. Next to that, there were a lot of other fun activities, like glitter stations, flunkyball-matches, beer pong-matches and other entertainment.
The last artist we watched perform was Peter Fox. Just like during his other shows, his set was a joyful experience. Fans were on stage from the first minute on, dancing and singing along. The whole set was filled by a big band, and Peter Fox was not shy to play some electrical sound effects himself. Day three of Frequency Festival was a success, and we are looking forward to next year’s edition!
