Spotlight: rock band from hell

Those who love rock know that the Finnish music scene rarely disappoints when it comes to loud music. Among a bunch of other great bands, one punk rock band is slowly making themselves known, not only in their hometown Oulu, but all over Europe. Welcome to the spotlight: rock band from hell!

The band is still fairly new to the scene, after forming just four years ago in 2020. The trio consists of vocalist and guitarist Jani Tillman, guitarist and backing vocalist Jere Siivikko, and drummer Mikko Nykänen. Their first single ‘Why Don’t You Die’ came out in September 2020. Over the next few years, they released a variety of songs, including ‘Saturday’ and ‘Lucky Loser’.

On September 1st of 2023, they released their debut album, titled Music For Late Night Activities. It included the previously released singles, but with 13 tracks on the record, there were also plenty of new songs for the fans to enjoy. The album is perfect for all lovers of punk rock, combining heavy guitars with catchy melodies and sassy yet honest lyrics.

Earlier this year, rock band from hell got an opportunity that is rare for bands of their size; playing a tour all over Europe. As one of the support acts on Blind Channel’s ‘Exit Emotions Tour’, they got a chance to present their music to crowds in 29 cities all over the continent, and they definitely succeeded. Even though very few people knew them before the tour, the band has managed to gain the love of many new fans. Following that tour, they played two solo shows in Finland in September. In December, they will be supporting Blind Channel again on their ‘Final Emotions Tour’ throughout Finland.

In September 2024, they released their newest single ‘BLOODMOON’, while at the same time announcing they are signed with Scary Noise Records, a newly founded independent label based in Helsinki.

rock band from hell’s sound definitely awakes nostalgia for all those who grew up listening to rock and punk music. Despite their sound having clear similarities with well-known bands like Green Day, they manage to bring their own twist into their music. If you are up for a good time and some nostalgic punk sounds, make sure to check out their music!
