Spotlight: Boy Bleach

Are you obsessed with music and finding new artists or are you normal? We have a band for you that talks about real life issues while blessing your ears with heavy alternative-rock sounds. If you want to know more about these guys, stay a minute and learn about Boy Bleach.

The four friends from East London, with Louis’ vocals, JJ on the keys/bass, Nick on guitar, and Jimi on the drums, are the future of our current music world. Boy Bleach also includes James, who recently took a step back from the band, to focus on personal matters. But he is included on the upcoming tour poster, so we hope to see him back there. The anthemic discography that alternates between their current alt-rock songs to the more pop-punk sound of their first singles has a song for everybody to enjoy.

A typical Boy Bleach gig drips with energy, sweat, and the shared love for music. They go from a powerful start with the more upbeat songs, to the slower parts with songs about mental health and their unreleased fan favourite ‘So Good’, up to an energetic ending. The band will make you scream your lungs out, cry to their sweet melodies, and jump around with your friends.

The band have played all over the UK, have been the support act for Yungblud and The Band Camino, and had their own headline (mainland) Europe tour in May and June last year. Apart from these shows, Boy Bleach played loads of festivals last summer, including Truck Festival, Reeperbahn Festival, as well as Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park.

The Boy Bleach sound is inspired by artists like The Clash, Blur, and Gorillaz, which stays within the lane of alternative rock with a touch of brit-punk. Since September 2021, Boy Bleach released 10 singles, one alternative version, one cover that was wildly requested by the fans, and one EP. Their debut EP, titled or are you normal?, came out in March 2022 and was immediately loved by the fans. That same year, the band released another single called ‘Dance No More’ and their very own cover of Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’, which they had been playing at their live shows and had become somewhat of a fan favourite.

Taking a little break from releasing music to really focus on writing songs, the band did not release another song for a while, but came back strong with ‘Daylight Robbery’ in March 2023. From then on, the audience could see and hear a clear theme in the band’s songs, and especially the lyrics. Touching on real-life problems of today’s society, such as the working class feeling overlooked and not cared about, or that the band’s generation does not get enough support when it comes to their beliefs in politics, Boy Bleach has the talent to write anthemic hymns that are important in this day and age.

Their single ‘Sun Cream’, which came out as the second single this year, after the band took another creative break for a couple months, talks about the problem of having to go through the motions every day, but it doesn’t make you happy nor does it pay nearly enough to live a proper life. On November 22nd they are releasing their next EP titled The Beautiful Boy.

If these topics sound interesting to you, you should definitely check out Boy Bleach’s socials and listen to their discography. For even more content, the band’s YouTube has loads of fun things to offer, from music and lyric videos combined with show diaries to live sessions of the songs; the band does a lot to give back to the fans.

Speaking of doing a lot for fans – Boy Bleach had to cancel some headline UK gigs in March last year, but to make up for it, they organised a hang-out in London. Fans were able to eat some pizza with friends and the band, and the boys played a couple of their songs acoustic,  even showing their fans their next song ‘Daylight Robbery’ before it was released. After this mini live show, the band walked around and took their time to chat with everyone, take photos, and just have a good time with the fans that travelled from all over Europe.

Now that the band is back at full speed, Boy Bleach is going to go on a little tour this winter. Starting in Cologne on November 28th, heading to Berlin on November 30th and finishing the tour on December 3rd in Prague. So if you want to catch a live show of these east London boys and have the time of your life with a bunch of friends, go get your tickets now before the tour will be sold out.

Boy Bleach are the next big band on the music horizon, and if you want to be here from the start and want to be able to say that you watched them grow to become everybody’s favourite band, you should keep your eyes peeled and ears wide open to witness what Boy Bleach has to show the world in the next couple of years.
