Blossoms bloom in Hamburg

On Monday, February 9th, Blossoms played a show at the Hamburger club Gruenspan as part of their 2026 Europe Tour, with support from Arkayla. Upon arrival at the venue, there was still a queue, and the room was packed, the show promising a great start to the week.

First on stage was Arkayla, which consists of vocalist Cathal Blakebrough, bassist Joey Harley, guitarist Finley Rubens and drummer Dylan Murphy. They started with the song ‘Falling Down’ and followed with ‘Long Way Back’. Last year in October, they released their newest EP DON’T LOOK FOR ANSWERS, from which they played ‘Fortune Teller’.

Cathal thanked Blossoms for having them as support and mentioned that it was the band’s very first time playing in Hamburg. He also teased that it wouldn’t be the last time. Then they played ‘Doctor’, which is also from their latest EP. After the song, Cathal mentioned that at the merch stand, their first vinyl (their new EP) is being sold! Cathal expressed that it was “wonderful” playing their set, followed by the band playing their last song for the night: ‘Waste of Time’. Fans loudly cheered when they started walking off of the stage. Generally, Arkayla had the crowd cheering multiple times throughout their set and it was noticeable that they enjoyed seeing the band live.

Next on was Blossoms, consisting of Tom Odgen (vocals), Charlie Salt (bass), Josh Dewhurst (guitar), Joe Donovan (drums) and Myles Kellock (keys, synthesiser), joined by even more musicians on stage. Fans were already excited to see them live, as they started cheering from the moment the band started walking on stage. Tom said “Guten Abend Hamburg!”, wishing the crowd to have “a good time this evening”,  and with that, the first song of the band’s set ‘Gary’ started.

Before the song ‘Getaway’, Tom asked the room “How are we feeling this evening everybody, are we feeling good?”, to which people cheered enthusiastically. They played ‘Oh No (I think I’m In Love)’, then ‘What Can I Say After I’m Sorry? ’. Tom then animated the crowd to put their hands in the air.

The band proceeded with playing ‘The Honeymoon’, walked off stage for a brief moment, and just before ‘Nightclub’ phone beeps started hauling through the speakers, Tom reappearing with a phone in his hands. This is a repeating bit to the Blossoms show to start the song in a way that catches everyone’s attention.

For ‘The Keeper’, Tom once again encouraged fans to put their hands up. Introducing the song ‘Mothers’, Tom asked if there were “any mothers here tonight”, then asked the same for best friends, people cheered, dedicating the song to them.

For the next song ‘I Like Your Look’, the singer picked two fans who were at the gig together to talk to. He asked them if it was their first time seeing the band, and then “I just wanna tell you I like your look”, transitioning over to the song. Following this, the band did one acoustic song, letting the fans choose between ‘Blown Rose’, ‘Love Talk’ and ‘My Favourite Room’. Getting the loudest cheers from the crowd, ‘My Favourite Room’ ended up winning. After this acoustic song, Blossoms played a cover, which was ‘Half The World Away’ by Oasis. The band closed their set, and with that, the whole night, with ‘Charlemagne’. The audience went down on their knees and then jumped up for that one.

Throughout their whole set, Blossoms managed to captivate their fans’ energy, as the crowd sang along, had their hands up and just overall had a visibly fun time. The band created a live show that you don’t want to miss, as well as one you want to see more than once!
