If you are anything like me, then surely you’ve went to a concert before and noticed that you forgot to take that one important thing with you. As long as it’s not your ticket or earplugs (!!), you will probably be fine, but it’s better to be prepared. As a frequent concert visitor, I have made the ultimate list of concert essentials, so that you won’t ever have to go to a show unprepared again!
1. (Uniqlo) bag
Where to start? With a bag, of course. I swear by the Uniqlo cross-body bags, as anything will fit and they’re quite comfortable. They come in several colours too, so you will for sure find a match for your concert outfit.
2. Printed out concert ticket
For most concerts, you can show your ticket on your phone. Still, for peace of mind, you can print out the ticket when possible, in case there is no cellular connection at the venue or another reason why you can’t show your ticket on your phone. Better be safe than sorry!
3. Earplugs
It’s always advised to wear hearing protection at shows, because you never know what the volume of the music will be like. Even a few minutes in a loud environment can cause hearing damage, and of course, we want to be able to enjoy music for as long as possible! I use the Alpine Musicsafe Pro earplugs with different music filters, but I can also recommend Loop earplugs. If you get the right earplugs, you will not miss out on any details of the music, but you’ll spare your ears.
4. Dextro/sugar
Concerts can be intense and therefore cost a lot of energy, and especially if you have been queueing for a while, there is a possibility that you’ll feel a bit lightheaded during the show. Do not fret! Always take dextro or some similar quick sugars with you, and then you will be just fine.
5. Mini fan
Even though there is air conditioning at most venues, concerts can still become quite hot. I always bring my handheld fan, there are many kinds that fit right in a small bag and it has been a great help at hot venues or summer festivals!
6. Mini power bank + charging cable
Bring a power bank with you, so if your phone dies, you can charge it to contact your friends or family if necessary and to check how to get home after the show. Don’t forget a charging cable too! Note: not every venue allows power banks, so look into this first.
7. Sanitary products & painkillers
Don’t let something unexpected like your period or a headache ruin your concert experience. Make sure to always take a few sanitary products and painkillers with you, so if you feel unwell or happen to get your period, it won’t be a problem.
Obviously, besides these items, I always bring my phone, bank card, ID, and public transport card with me. I often bring a small water bottle too if the venue allows it.
