The second day had arrived. Due to the heat, we decided to arrive a little later than the previous day. We quickly made our way to Space Stage, where US-rapper Ty Dolla $ign was set to perform. After a short delay and his DJ hyping up the crowd, Ty Dolla $ign came out and performed hits like ‘Swalla’, where he is originally featured, as well as his own songs such as ‘FUK SUMN’, ‘CARNIVAL’ and even covered Backstreet Boys‘ ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’. Something I absolutely loved was watching one of the supervisors of Frequency wearing a cowboy hat, jamming to the song and just having the most amazing time working.
Next on our list was 01099 – a German rap group – performing on the Green Stage. The stage setup was really nicely done, and band members Gustav, Zachi and Paul performed with amazing energy, hyping up the huge crowd that turned up even though it felt like 40 degrees outside. No one seemed to mind though, as they sang, danced and lost their minds when 01099 brought out Zartmann and Ikkimel to perform their collab songs respectively. Besides singing and rapping, they whipped out instruments like a saxophone, which was absolutely amazing. They also performed their new single ‘So heiß’, originally featuring Cro, which was really fun to hear and dance to as well.
After 01099, we took a little break to prepare for our most anticipated act of the weekend – Shawn Mendes. Sadly, we therefore had to skip Tream. On videos and according to festival goers, the show looked absolutely amazing with so many people dancing and screaming their lungs out at Green Stage.

Coming back to Shawn Mendes, we made our way into the crowd of UFO361 to secure a place near the front. UFO361 performed with an overtime of about ten minutes, meaning that Shawn’s team had a little bit of a rush to set up the stage. In between sets, many people in the crowd played Duolingo. Good for them keeping up their streak! With about a five-minute delay, Shawn Mendes came on stage, and the crowd went absolutely wild. Opening up with ‘There’s Nothing Holdin‘ Me Back’, then following with ‘Wonder’ and ‘Treat You Better’, he played one hit after the other. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, everybody was singing, dancing, screaming and then crying to songs like ‘Heart of Gold’, which followed after a heartfelt speech about the meaning behind the song. ‘Isn’t that Enough’ received a special moment as fireworks went off at Green Stage while Shawn and his talented band performed the song. With three barricade walks, including hugs and exchanging smiles, Shawn was all smiles and delivering an amazing performance with live vocals nearing perfection. It is so good to have him back and looking this happy. Personally, this was my concert/festival highlight of the entire year, and it’s only August.
Shawn Mendes overlapped with Nina Chuba. As we had to catch our train back to Vienna, we only caught a little bit of her set. In German, there is a word, “Süßmaus”, and she is the epitome of that word. With her being such a sympathetic young talented woman hyping up the crowd and creating mosh pits during songs like ‘Wilberry Lillet’, she put on an amazing show, with many festival goers left stunned.
Central Cee on Space Stage, Felix Jaehn on Green Stage and then finally Scooter on Space Stage were the closing headliners of Frequency Day 2.
