Lucky for us, The Rock Circus lasts for multiple days. After the amazing Saturday we had, we went back for round 2 on Sunday. Once again, it was a rainy day, and I was glad that they made this festival indoors.
Day two was filled with something for everyone. Two more local bands were on the big stage line-up today: Epica from The Netherlands and Ramkot from our neighbouring country Belgium. This day was busier than the day before, and by looking at what people were wearing, we could easily make an assumption as to why. People were either wearing Electric Callboy merch, or fully dressed up in neon costumes that nowadays can be associated with the band.
The festival was set-up the same as the day before, so even if you did not come on Saturday, you still got the full circus experience. The market stall with a great deal of band shirts was especially busy. You could find a shirt for just €15, or buy two for a total of €25. This festival was decently priced overall, especially in this economy. A day ticket was €66,60 and a weekend ticket €99,90.
On Sunday, the line-up for the signings was another great one. The festival learned from the day before and made separate lines for the different bands that came to sign. With Electric Callboy being in the middle of the signing line-up, a big crowd gathered in the hopes to meet the band. Some fans stood in line hours before their signing session.
Lorna Shore gathered a big crowd, since many people wanted to see killer vocalist Will Ramos perform. Their set started with a bang, as they had lots of pyrotechnics during the first song. Their songs made many people crowdsurf and the crowd split into two, making room for a huge wall of death in the middle. They played their most known songs ‘To The Hellfire’ and all three parts of ‘Pain Remains’, which got the crowd going crazy.
Finally, we could see a Dutch band shine on the main stage, as Epica was in the line-up. Much like Powerwolf on Saturday, they went all out with their staging. Turning metal wheels and giant fire-spewing snakes accessorised the stage.
The night ended with an announcement for next year’s edition of The Rock Circus. Next year the festival will take place on November 2nd and 3rd, and you can find Sepultura, Jinjer, Obituary, and Nephylim in the line-up. The Netherlands desperately needed a new metal/rock festival of this scale and with this first edition, they definitely proved their worth. We can’t wait to see all the other artists next year!
