Live Review: Carson Coma in Munich

On a Tuesday evening, the Hungarian band Carson Coma had the last show of their 2024 EU tour in Munich at the Hansa 39. With this, they had their first headline show in the city. The band includes Bóna Zsombor (guitar), Giorgio Fekete (guitar, vocals), Gaál Péter (percussion), Kun Bálint (keyboard), Jónás Attila (bass), and Barnabás Héra (drums).

When the band went on stage, the crowd was already excited for their set, and they cheered loudly. Carson Coma started off with “Osztálytalálkozó”. Then they did “Hobbihajótörött”, after which the fans cheered and clapped.

“VIGYÁZZ, KÉSZ, RAJT”, was the third song of their set. After, Giorgio asked who doesn’t speak Hungarian here – for those who didn’t, he tried speaking German and spoke English throughout the show, when not Hungarian. He then talked about how “this is the last stop, the last night of a ten stop Europe tour, our very first Europe tour, thank you so much for being here”.

The next song was “Én még sohasem”, and fans sang it back to them, then the band followed with “Truman show”. During their set, they had a point when they brought out a huge dice on stage, which had songs of theirs written on it, to decide which song will be played next. Once it got rolled, the dice decided for “Börönd” to be the following song. Giorgio held it up, with the chosen song facing the crowd for everyone to see.

They also played the song “Porszem”, which Giorgio described as a sad song. Fans listened attentively. During the next song, “Polaroid”, they sang the lyrics back to them. Kun and Giorgio said how they’d pronounce “Munich” in German – so “München” – and the crowd was supposed to decide who’s right, which ended up being Giorgio.

Before the song ‘Marokkó’, most of the room put up their hands when Giorgio asked who hasn’t been to a Carson Coma show yet, and then he explained what happens at Carson Coma shows during ‘Marokkó’: after the band sings the song, the fans always sing it back to them. After ‘Frida Kahlo’ people kept cheering and cheering. When the band went off stage after their set, Giorgio gave fans high fives.

The band was energetic on stage, the crowd was as well. People in the crowd danced together, hugged each other, and Carson Coma got the room jumping.
