Live Review: Kamrad in Munich

On Saturday, January 25th, the German singer Tim Kamrad put on a sold-out show at the Muffathalle in Munich, Germany as part of the “Friends Tour 2025”. Joined by guitarist Lenni Ewald, drummer Marcel Vojvodic and bassist and keyboardist Nico Neumüller. They were back in the city after playing an Energy Live Session at the Ampere – a smaller venue right next to this one – last October.

First on stage was the German-American singer Myle. He started with the song ‘Hold Me’, followed by ‘Not Ready’ and ‘Patience’. He mentioned that his first show in Munich was actually at the Ampere. Multiple times he expressed gratitude to be on tour with Kamrad and his team. Before playing ‘That Other Boy’ he gave the audience a brief explanation about how the song came to be. He talked about how he was in the studio to write a song when he learned that his ex-girlfriend had a new boyfriend. He then started comparing himself to her new boyfriend, leading to him writing the song. The crowd cheered after the song ended and he said “There’s still more possible!” and the cheers became louder.

Next is his 5th and last song of the evening ‘Following You’. He mentioned that usually, he’s on stage with a band and that although it’s the final song of the night, it’s not the last song in Munich, since they’ll be soon going on tour. During the song Myle asked the crowd to sing “following, following, following you” with him and they did. Just before he walked off stage he said “We hope you’re seeing us on tour, thank you.”

Next were Kamrad and his band. Right before the set started, people were already cheering excitedly. Kamrad’s band went on stage before him. Before the first song a voice said “Friendship, friendship is to trust. Friendship can be just a smile that brightens your day. Friendship is strong, friendship is priceless, friendship is to share the good and the bad things. This is how I see friendship. Having true friends is the best thing to achieve, no matter what happens in life with good friends you never feel alone. I will never be lonely, ‘cause you know what, I got my friends”. This was followed by Kamrad entering the stage and they started with the song ‘Friends’. He said “Munich, are you in a good mood, sing with me”, the crowd cheered and did it.

Before the night’s third song, ‘Be Mine’ (unreleased), Kamrad introduced himself and mentioned that his band and himself are excited to play music for the fans. People danced, put their hands up and jumped. Kamrad introduced ‘Outside’, talking about how to not change for another person, to stay true to yourself and that it’s good to be different.

During the set, he expressed gratitude for his band and reflected on how earlier at the start of his career, people didn’t listen to his songs as much as he hoped for. Because of that, he tried to hype himself up. He also encouraged people to believe in themselves, even when it’s a longer process, not to lose the fun and courage. He then did the songs ‘Find’ and ‘Changes’, during which his band walked off stage and he played them acoustic. The room was lit with phone torches during ‘Find’, which he only played with his guitar. For ‘Changes’, his debut single, he added his looper, which he has had since the early beginnings of his career, back when he played at Street Food Markets.

At one point during the set, he asked the fans to give applause to Myle, who he mentioned is his good friend. Besides being a singer, he was also a coach on the Voice of Germany 2024. He decided to invite the show’s contestants on stage during each night of the tour. In Munich, it was Fabio and Nico, who covered ‘Numb/Encore’ (by JAY-Z and Linkin Park), for most of it he was off the stage and joined them towards the end of it. This was the first time during the tour that Kamrad invited two contestants on stage.

During ‘Easy To Hate Me’, Kamrad asked the crowd to go down and then jump. He counted “1-2, 1-2-3, let’s go” and the whole room partied. They all then walked off stage, the room was filled with voices shouting “Encore” repeatedly. It was time for the Encore, they were back on stage. Kamrad said, “Munich, do you still have energy? We have a brand new song for you,” before playing ‘Fever Dreams’.

After that, he mentioned how fun the evening was and that although the next song will be the last one, they’ll play in Munich again next year. He also asked the room to give applause to the band, he again expressed his gratitude for them and thanked the crowd. Then one last round of jumping during the evening started with ‘I Believe’ as the night’s last song. Kamrad said “All hands up Munich” and “Louder!”, in the midst of it. The concert venue was soon filled with loud claps and fans singing back the song.

When the song ended he said an enthusiastic “Thank You!”. They all bowed down, Kamrad wished everyone to get home well and they all walked off stage. The energy in the room was there right from the start of the set. Kids were on their parents’ shoulders, and people sang along and clapped.
