It was a Thursday evening when the German singer Kasi, took the stage for a sold out show at the Backstage Halle in Munich as part of the ‘Kasi fährt auf Tour 2024’ tour. The artist was accompanied by guitarist and bassist Johannes as well as his producer Antonius, joining as vocals.
German Singer Vince and the guitarist Josh opened the evening. They started off with the song ‘letzter sommer’. Afterwards, Vince excitedly asked “Was geht ab München ? // What’s up Munich?”, roaring up the crowd. He also mentioned that they’d been on the tour for 3 days which brought them excitement and that he’d hoped they would warm up the audience for Kasi’s set later. Next on was the song ‘5 neue sorgen’, after which Vince thanked the crowd and introduced himself, as well as Josh, his guitarist, asking people to cheer for him. Before continuing with ‘besser als ich’, he wished everyone lots of fun and expressed how much he loves playing this specific song live.
During the 4th song ‘zwischen beats & rauch’ – a song which Vince explained got created at the beginning of his studies – the full room beautifully lit up with phone flashlights. ‘wie gewohnt’ was next and fans sang it back to the stage, following Vince’s request to jump up and down.
During the song ‘manchmal’ he waved into a fan’s phone, and to end the set during ‘wie papier’, a song which features both Kasi and Antonius, he helped three fans up on stage to sing Kasi’s part with them.
Vince acknowledged that it takes courage to go up on stage. He asked the crowd to cheer for the fans who joined them and then wished the crowd lots of fun with Kasi and Antonius before walking off stage.
Then it was time for Kasi’s set. They started off with ‘immatrikuliert’, followed by ‘schweigen uns an_v3’, in front of an energised crowd, fans singing their hearts out. Kasi talked about how, in the summer of 2023, they released an EP, and asked the crowd if they wanted to hear a song off of it, leading into ‘zwischen allem und nichts’. Towards the end of it Kasi said “München, kann ich einmal jede Hand in diesem Raum hier oben sehen ? // Munich, can I see everyone’s hands up in the room?”. Fans followed suit and put their hands in the air with enthusiasm, clapping along to the beat.
Kasi explained that their next song, ‘passt nicht’, was about two people who struggle to fit together. After continuing with the song ‘sommernacht’, Antonius revealed that he created a remix of it and he wanted to share it with the audience, encouraging everyone to jump, keeping the energy pumping in the room. Before ‘einszweidrei’, Kasi and Antonius asked the crowd to loudly sing the chorus with them. Antonius went into the crowd to share the incredibly energised vibes – and even took a selfie with someone – as the fans jumped around excitedly in a mosh pit, shortly before he went back up on stage.
Kasi then asked, “Geht’s auch allen gut ? // Is everyone doing well?” and told the audience to let them know if something was happening or if someone wasn’t feeling well. He went on by mentioning that their brand new mixtape – which was released on October 18th, 2024 – landed on the 15th place in the charts. The musicians kept the show going with ‘30 zigaretten_v3’, which is part of said mixtape. During the song Kasi said “München ich feier euch so hart, dankeschön ! // (literally) Munich, I’m celebrating you so hard. Thank you !”
Kasi expressed gratitude, on behalf of everyone in the crew, for them to be able to play on stage. He then suggested for the fans to put their phones away for the next hour and to just enjoy themselves.
For ‘Boys Do Cry’, he explained that the song was first created when Antonius, Vince and him got to know each other and mentioned that it’s about how it’s okay to show emotions, even as a boy or a man, and that it’s never something wrong. During ‘mein herz setzt aus_v2’, the room sang along again, clapping and cheering with their hands up in the air.
As Antonius sang his song ‘17’ on stage, the fans got emotional, hugging one-another in a wholesome shared moment.
They did a cover of ‘Nur ein Wort’ by Wir sind Helden, and then it was time for ‘meinen die uns’. Before the song, Kasi talked about the importance of using your voice to be loud for what’s right. Towards the end of it, both the crowd and the artists on stage engaged in a full jumping workout, showing yet again that the energy was not ready to lessen just yet.
For the second to last song of the night, they performed the unreleased track ‘herbst’. Afterward, as the fans kept cheering, the performers had their moments: Kasi seemed to take everything in and Johannes formed a heart with his hands, which was reciprocated by people in the crowd.
For the last song, ‘immatrikuliert’, Vince and Josh joined the stage, treating the Backstage Halle to a final anthem. As the set came to an end, Kasi, Antonius and Johannes on stage still, the crowd roared one last time, cheering and clapping for the show that was just delivered to them. “Man soll dann gehen wann’s am schönsten ist // One should go when it’s the most beautiful” claimed Kasi before leaving the stage.
The packed show left the artists visibly happy as well as the fans, who spent an evening of lyrics screaming and incredibly high energy they surely would not forget.
