Live Review: Lauren Ruth Ward in Munich

On Sunday evening, April 21st, Lauren Ruth Ward played a show at the Import Export in Munich. With a capacity of only 200 people, fans could expect a very intimate show.

The band tummyache opened the evening and great energy was radiating from the stage right from the beginning. Before they got into their song ‘Birthday’ they asked the audience if it was someone’s birthday. No one said anything and it was still quiet when they asked if it was someone’s half birthday. When asked if it was near anyone’s birthday, they finally got a reaction and people replied yeah and cheered. Tummyache then dedicated the song to them. After their set the crowd clapped for them and this created a nice atmosphere in the room!

Up next was the headliner of the evening, Lauren Ruth Ward, accompanied by her band. The joy the band gets out of live shows is noticeable from the beginning of the set, since they are all smiling on stage and look like they are having lots of fun. Someone from the audience screamed “love it” and Lauren smiled at that. During the set the fans applauded and cheered multiple times.“Thank you guys so much for listening and paying attention and just being present, I really appreciate it”, is what Lauren said to show her gratitude.

Throughout the whole show Lauren interacted with the audience a lot, letting fans near the stage sign her shoes and holding people’s hands. She even went into the crowd twice getting even closer to everyone. Towards the end of the set she expressed her genuine gratitude again for everyone who showed up to her shows. After the last song the crowd kept applauding and cheering and Lauren said “Thank you, let’s go have fun”, before the band and her left the stage. After which she came back to chat with the fans.

I find myself thinking how impressed I was with the show and performance. Even after the show a great mood radiated through the room. People stayed in the venue laughing and chatting about what a great show it was.
