On the evening of Thursday, May 8th, Luna Kills played a show at the Uebel & Gefährlich Turmzimmer in Hamburg. The concert was part of their ‘Deathmatch Album Tour’. The Finnish modern metal band is made up of vocalist Lotta Ruutiainen, bassist Lassi Peltonen, drummer Jimi Kinnunen, and guitarist Samuli Paasineva.
The show took place on the 4th floor, where fans gathered in a small room to wait for the band. Lotta told the crowd it was their “first ever show in Germany” and added, “It’s always awesome to come to new countries and play music for people who have come to enjoy the music, ain’t that right?” The crowd responded with cheers and clapping. The band then played ‘Hands’ and ‘Sugar Rush’.
Before the song ‘The Slayer Enemies’, Lotta got the crowd going and encouraged them to start a mosh pit. A small one formed in the centre of the room. When she introduced ‘Deep Cuts’, Lotta said it was one of their older songs and asked if anyone knew it. Fans cheered, and someone shouted, “Yeah!” She replied, “Alright, Hamburg, let’s do this!” as the band launched into the song. Next came ‘BULLET’, where both the band and the crowd crouched down, then jumped up together, with Lotta shouting, “Let’s fucking go!” and more jumping followed.
The encore began with clapping from both the band and the audience, leading into the song ‘LEECH’. Lotta thanked the crowd for coming to their first German show and for joining them on the ‘Deathmatch Album Tour’, saying it was “a very nice kick-off here, right?” More cheers and clapping followed.
Luna Kills closed their set with ‘burn the world with me’. After the final notes, Lotta shouted, “Thank you so much!” and thanked their crew. The band then walked off stage while the crowd continued clapping. After the intimate show, filled with mosh pits, headbanging, and energy, the band went to the merch stand. Fans lined up, excited to meet them and maybe pick up some merchandise to remember the night.
