Just a year after they last played the same venue in Amsterdam, modernlove. came to play on the small stage in Paradiso again. Even though it was the day before Halloween, part of the crowd was dressed up. There were some sharks at the front and Alice from Alice in Wonderland could also be found dancing around.
The show was sold out and there was no support act before modernlove. Due to some issues with public transportation, modernlove. started a bit later than planned, giving everyone more time to get to the venue. When most people had arrived they could start their set. The band from Ireland was ready to give us the night of our lives. To kick off the evening, they played their latest release ‘Plans’. Everyone in the crowd enjoyed it and was dancing and jumping the night away. At one point the floor was shaking from all the energy and I honestly did get concerned we would break the venue. Singer, Barry Lally, told everyone that people from their record label were at the show. He jokingly said he was now obliged to inform the crowd that they have an online fan club everyone should join.
Before playing their last song, Barry told everyone they would be at the merch table after their set to meet all the fans that wanted to say hello. Ending their set with fan favourite ‘Follow You’, to close off an incredible night. Their set was a bit longer than an hour, filled with songs from their whole discography. The show was so good, the fans would’ve loved it if the night never came to an end. After playing a sold out show twice at the small stage in Paradiso, the band is ready to take the next step up to bigger venues. Hopefully, when they come back next time they will gather an even bigger crowd.
