On February 20th, the last show of the first “One More Night” tour leg brought a huge amount of energy and emotion to Kesselhaus in Berlin. From the captivating opening chords to the final cheers echoing in the venue, Only The Poets, consisting of Tommy Longhurst (lead vocalist), Andy Burge (bassist), Marcus Yates (drummer) & Clem Cherry (guitarist), delivered an incredible performance.
Kicking off the evening was Alfie Jukes, accompanied by guitarist Meg Helstrip, whose soulful melodies and raw energy took over the stage. From the first chord, the audience was hooked, with sing-alongs and illuminated phone torches transforming the venue into a sea of light. By the end of his set, Alfie had everyone wrapped around his finger. With his smooth vocals and chill vibes, he set the stage for what would be an unforgettable night of music.
The pre-show playlist set the perfect tone for the evening, seamlessly transitioning from one infectious melody to the next. The broad mix of tracks, ranging from Noah Kahan to Billie Eilish, and Shawn Mendes, served as a fitting prologue to the main event.
As anticipation filled the air, at 9 pm it was time for the main act, Only The Poets, to take the stage. Kicking off with the high-energy anthem ‘Crash’, the band immediately had the audience on their feet, jumping and singing along with passion. The vibrant stage lights danced around the venue, adding to the joy of the moment.
Throughout their set, Only The Poets treated fans to a mix of fan favourites. Those included tracks such as ‘Every God I Pray To’, during which Tommy and Clem entered into the crowd, turning the room into a sea of illuminated torches, and unreleased gems, like the unexpected and refreshing sound of ‘Don’t Wanna Be Your Friend’. Each tune was met with enthusiastic applause and passionate participation. Between two songs, Tommy took a moment to express their gratitude for the overwhelming support from their German fans, pointing out that the band had won the Ticketmaster Germany Award as “Best Newcomer.”
As the night reached its end, the band delivered an impressive encore, featuring their latest single ‘One More Night’ and the emotionally charged ‘Ceasefire’, during which Tommy proudly draped a pride flag around his shoulders—a symbolic gesture of inclusivity and acceptance. The evening concluded on a high note with ‘Emotional’, leaving the crowd buzzing with energy and emotion (excuse the pun). The band’s gratitude was unmistakable as they thanked the audience for their unwavering support again, promising a return to Berlin within the next year. The Poets left the stage amidst roaring applause, their infectious energy lingering long after the last note faded away.
Only The Poets are gearing up to drop their highly anticipated EP One More Night on June 7th, promising even more tunes to groove to.
