On Monday, September 11th, the audience at Vulkan Arena in Oslo, Norway was already screaming and cheering for the stage crew, excited to see Ruel, a 20-year-old Australian singer.
Though they seemed to be plenty warmed up and ready before the opening act took the stage, the band Telenova kicked off the night with a hypnotic stage presence that had the audience completely under their spell. Their unique sound and the singer’s intoxicating vocals was an absolute treat for all the senses!
At 9pm, the cinematic experience that is a Ruel concert, started with the text A FILM BY RUEL VAN DIJK flying across a big screen. Stunning visuals played as he broke the 4th wall, opening his set with the song ‘GO ON WITHOUT ME’ from his latest album.
The singer exuded an undeniable aura of energy and charm as he performed on stage, effortlessly moving to the rhythm of every song, rallying the crowd to participate. He expressed his love and gratitude for everyone who came to see him and took the time to interact with his fans. Some of them were so overwhelmed by the scenes in front of them, they started crying as they passionately sang his lyrics back to him.
With his relaxed yet energetic and engaging stage presence, Ruel delivered a captivating and soulful performance. His setlist included a mix of songs from his latest album and older hits, as well as a cover of ‘Night Changes’ by One Direction, and his song ‘SITTING IN TRAFFIC’ was accompanied by special guest Peder Elias. The concert came to a close with a resounding, high-energy rendition of the song ‘I DON’T WANNA BE LIKE YOU’.
Even those who were not well-versed in Ruel ́s discography, were left mesmerized by his astonishing performance and beautiful smooth voice. Whether you are a devoted fan or new to his music, his live performance is an absolute must-see that will undoubtedly leave you yearning for more.
