On March 28th, in the heart of Amsterdam, Dutch singer-songwriter Luna proved that her rapid rise over the past year has been no accident. In a sold-out Tolhuistuin, she celebrated not only her music but also a milestone: earlier that day, she learned that her very first tour was completely sold out.
The evening was opened by Kaya, known to many for his viral TikTok songs about love. As the venue slowly filled, he effortlessly managed to silence the audience with his heartfelt performance. Grateful for the opportunity to join the tour, Kaya laid a strong and emotional foundation for the rest of the evening.
At 8:30, Luna took the stage, bathed in soft pink light with a playful bow as a decorative detail. She kicked off with ‘Stuk’, immediately setting the tone: vulnerable, honest, and intimate. Between songs, she took ample time to share her story. About how, during the pandemic, she decided to stop caring about other people’s opinions and simply share her music on TikTok. Her first cover of Birdy’s ‘People Help the People’ was given a special place in the set and was brought back to life live. She also spoke about her own reinterpretation of ‘Birds of a Feather’’, which went viral and accelerated her career. It is precisely that authenticity thay makes her so beloved by her audience.
Luna’s strength lies not only in her voice, but in the story she tells. She spoke candidly about her growth: from a girl singing covers in her room to an artist who now performs for hundreds or sometimes thousands of people. Her message was clear and palpable: “If you want something, go for it and seize the opportunities you get.” The energy in the room was warm and genuine. Fans sang along, listened attentively, and responded enthusiastically to every personal moment. Luna created an atmosphere in which everyone felt like a part of her journey for a moment.
During the show, she surprised the audience with two unreleased songs, one of which will be released soon. Together with her band, she delivered a dynamic set in which up-tempo songs and fragile ballads alternated beautifully. After more than an hour, she closed with ‘Voorbestemd’, a song she wrote together with Russo. A fitting finale that brought the evening to an emotional close.
Luna proved with this show that she is more than an online success story. She is an artist with a clear vision, a recognisable sound and a strong connection with her audience. For lovers of Dutch pop, and especially female artists who find a balance between cheerfulness and vulnerability, Luna is definitely a name to keep an eye on.
