Spotlight: NEEVE

There are 4 guys making a lot of noise (and very good music) from Germany and you should stay and read this so one day you can say “I knew them before they were famous”.

The members of this band have always known each other, they grew up together! Felix and Axel Seyboth are the cousins of Marius and Philip Spohrer and NEEVE was born in their grandmother’s basement, where they, as teenagers, started playing and creating the dream they are living right now.

With a lot of hard work and their energetic modern indie-pop they have built up a stable fanbase. They define their sound as “a summer version of The 1975 and The Neighbourhood”. Their songs talk about topics such as mental health, relationships, communication and toxic masculinity. If you find their sound attractive, the sincerity of all the lyrics will catch you. They don’t just talk about important issues, they talk about their own experiences.

After releasing a few EPs, the band released in September 2022 their first studio album Chaos Of My Mind, of which they released a deluxe version in January 2023 just before announcing their European tour. The Like A Piece Of Art tour had 11 dates in their home country Germany, but also took in the Czech Republic, Poland, the UK, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, France and Austria during the spring. That’s a pretty big tour for an up and coming band with only one album released, they probably stopped in a city near you.

After the success of Chaos Of My Mind, they opened for The Driver Era in July and have released several singles, highlighting their latest ‘Blackout’ which talks about not being able to verbalize feelings. With this latest single, much louder than the previous ones, the band has entered a new era, more shameless, dark and daring. They have taken this aesthetic on the road because the Like A Piece Of Art tour is back until mid-October. NEEVE has always fought for fair prices for their shows, they design and take care of their own merchandise, and are looking for the closest possible proximity to their audience.

If you are lucky enough to experience one of their shows for a night, you will probably find Felix running around, climbing the stage structure or singing and dancing in the middle of the crowd giving it his all just like his band mates. At the end of the day they are just the kids who played in their grandmother’s basement having the best time of their lives.

Keep your eyes peeled to their socials, maybe they’ll be coming to your city soon. They also have two Tik Tok accounts where besides uploading a lot of content they usually do a lot of streamlives talking about music, life, social issues or whatever comes up, many times it’s Felix cooking while he dances. Before leaving on tour, they spent 4 days in a row in the studio recording and showing their process, they even went live from their two accounts at the same time, placing their mobiles in different parts of the room to show how they recorded voice and melody at the same time. The way they take their fans with them on every step of their journey is inspiring.

NEEVE besides being a very talented band with a unique sound have a special commitment to the band, the fans and society. You don’t want to lose track of them now because they have just taken off with a bang and they are not going to stop!
