On a warm spring day, Austrian singer-songwriter CARINA released her new song ‘All I Want’, which is fitting, because the track does indeed sound like a warm spring day.
Since releasing her debut album last year, CARINA has been steadily building her discography and ‘All I Want’ is the newest addition. The title of her debut album – Little Love – makes one thing clear: CARINA‘s music is all about love. From the love she feels for her significant other to the love she feels for herself, the word is often incorporated into her songs and their titles. Earlier releases such as ‘Burn For You’ prove that this is CARINA‘s realm, and ‘All I Want’ fits right into it.

CARINA is a classic representative of the singer-songwriter genre. Equipped with a guitar and a piano, she pens down her feelings in a poignant yet poetic way. ‘All I Want’ starts off with CARINA‘s warm voice and an equally warm guitar tune. One particularly lovely moment comes with the transition from the first pre-chorus to the chorus, where she moves into a higher register and gives the guitar a more prominent role.
However, the main highlights are without a doubt the layered backing vocals that truly enrich the song without taking the spotlight away from the lyrics. Instead, they support the track and eventually culminate in its stunning fade-out. It should be noted here that not only does CARINA write her own songs, the production credits go to her, too. This gives the song even more character and authenticity.
While CARINA has no problem hitting high notes, this is a calmer song where she shines in the lower register. The simplicity of the track enhances its message: you don’t need a lot if you have the right person – serenity is just as beautiful as euphoria.
Ever so tender, ‘All I Want’ is the kind of love song that people walk the aisle down to. It’s clear that CARINA grows with each release, perfecting her songwriting skills and it will be exciting to see what she comes up with next.
