Rising star Milune released her new song ‘bad in bed’ on January 10th and gives us yet another very promising taste of her debut album Hearts Lust.
‘bad in bed’ exudes the kind of dreamy, feminine vibe we know from Milune. The overall tone of the song is not too dissimilar to her EP rabbit holes, its track ‘fever dream’ in particular. It’s clear that the Swiss American singer is finding her style, successfully so.

One reason why ‘bad in bed’ has such a beautiful lightness to it is the way the song utilises its beat. The first verse eases into the chorus without a beat and when it hits, it adds a dramatic effect without distracting from the stunning tune. Like in a lot of her previous songs, Milune is playing around with synths, giving ‘bad in bed’ both a vintage feel and a timeless quality. The synths also go along with her captivating voice perfectly, highlighting the layered vocals and the heavenly high notes in the pre-chorus.
As for the lyrics, Milune’s songwriting shines in this track. What makes her storytelling so captivating in this song is her ability to delicately interlace the most heartfelt descriptions with cheeky double entendres, singing: “Whenever you want me, you know I’m coming” while maintaining a seamless lyrical flow.
Thematically, this is one of Milune’s most daring songs so far. ‘Hearts Lust’, her previous release, already went in a similar direction, and ‘bad in bed’ feels like a sequel to it – a fact that attests to her storytelling abilities. What’s more, it’s simply beautiful to see the lesbian music scene grow and take up the space in pop which it deserves. All in all, ‘bad in bed’ raises the expectations for Milune’s album to new levels.
