Upcoming artist wellson has just released his new single ‘Blank Films’ on December 13th, 2024 and if you love piano ballads, this one’s for you!
The song is a beautiful piano based track paired with strong vocals. It immediately conveys the feeling of missing someone and almost feels nostalgic. The vocals portray the emotional weight of the topic of the song and really empower the whole message of wanting to be close with someone you never actually met or haven’t seen in a long time.
‘Blank Films’ talks about how you can see people’s lives online by what they post, “The pictures on her site are telling stories that no one else can get insight.” It develops this feeling of wanting to get to know the person better and becoming closer, but never actually getting past the point of being familiar strangers on the internet: “Cause no matter what I do, I’m just a stranger,” due to different factors like the places you both live in, “Too many miles between our hometowns.”
But even then, that doesn’t stop you from wishing to be part of their life and wanting to be close with the person. Singing lines like “Let’s fill our hearts with feelings and blank films to relive them” shows just how much you might want to have that person in your life despite it not working.
The line “Cause pictures stay when memories fade away, what does it take to be part of your album” is a beautiful way to ask for the desired closeness and for a way to make the relationship (of any kind) happen. The song ends with the lines “I don’t know you and you don’t know me, I guess there’s no story of you and I. But at least you will remember me,” which indicates that even though the two people never got close, they’ll still see each other’s lives online and therefore will be reminded of each other all the time. It almost feels like a sweet love confession, but what makes it so real is the fact that there is no happy ending but rather a moment of ‘right person wrong time’, which is something that can happen so often in our lives.
wellson is a really promising newcomer artist and you should definitely check out his other two releases called ‘Frayed’ and ‘Never Alone’. They’re the perfect road trip songs and I just know you’ll love them. And who knows how many great songs will follow in 2025…
