If you have a dream and you’re making that dream come true, Calum Bowie has the perfect anthem for you. His newest single ‘Dream Of My Own’ was released on January 17th, 2025, and will be the soundtrack to fulfill your dreams this year.
The song is based on a beautiful melody that underlines the lyrics and vocals until right before the bridge, where the song has a small instrumental break. Calum’s signature guitar track, paired with strings and a beautiful second back vocal track towards the end, makes the song feel like you’re driving towards your dreams.
The verses of the song tell different parts of Calum’s story. The first verse focuses on him. He tells the audience how he’s been through a lot, even though he is still quite young and tends to feel lonely when he’s on the road (on tour). “I’ve been alive for what feels like forever but I’m only 23.” // “I got this thing with the TV in my hotel room […] can’t turn it off because it stops me feeling lonely and that’s more than I can take.”
In the second verse Calum shares a story about a stranger he met in a taxi and goes on to tell a little bit about that person’s story. This emphasises that we all have our own journeys to travel and our own baggage to carry: “I met this guy we shared a taxi through the city, he did everything but smile. Here for a funeral, said his brother was the good one. And he’ll see him in a while.”
The chorus of the song conveys the feeling of how lonely it can be to chase your dreams and illustrates Calum’s wish to travel the world as a musician without the need for fame or money. “I’ve been on trains. I’ve been up and down the country. I often feel like I’m alone. I don’t need fame and I’m not chasing any money, I’m just chasing a dream of my own.” He describes how he has been putting a lot of energy and love into reaching his dreams and it’s honestly such an inspiring song.
Calum Bowie should definitely be on your radar for upcoming artists. His debut EP, Through The Window, is coming out on March 21st, 2025, and he will be on tour in Ireland and the UK in February and March this year. So presave the EP and get your tickets – you don’t want to miss this!
