Song Review: ‘Famous’ by Lillian Hepler

As Melomaniacs we love discovering new musical talents and today we are introducing Lillian Hepler, with her soul-stirring vocals that almost sound like a revelation. Lillian Hepler is a 22 year old pop artist based in Los Angeles. Like many others, she started uploading covers of songs as a young teenager and started writing original songs by the age of 15, accumulating millions of streams with singles like ‘Nightmare’ and ‘Easy’ and reaching over 2M followers on TikTok.

Lillan’s music is deeply personal and based on her own stories, yet told in such a way that many people in their early twenties can relate to.Her new song ‘Famous’ was released on the 12th of July, and we are sharing our thoughts!

‘Famous’ starts off as a ballad with vocals as light as a feather, showcasing her incredible vocal abilities. It is easy and pleasant to listen to, yet touching. Her raw emotion and unfiltered expression move the listener. The chorus of the song grabs your attention, as it is energising and explosive. This is strengthened by going from an emotional verse to a powerful chorus that really stands for growth and being the bigger person. “I would call you out but I don’t wanna make you famous” tells us about the end of a relationship where the other person betrayed you and moved on, but you don’t want to give this person any more attention as they do not deserve it.

Lillian explains: “You meet someone, plan a future together, and then all hell breaks loose, they betray you, and you’re left watching this person move on without you. (…) But, the best revenge is actually just moving on and never having their name come out of your mouth again.”
