Song Review: ‘Heartbreak Souvenirs’ by Anson Seabra

Anson Seabra is a Kansas City, Missouri native, who has been making music since 2017. He is known for his raw relatability and well written lyrics. Anson writes about love, heartbreak and mental health struggles. And in 2019, he blew up with songs like ‘Broken’ and ‘Trying My Best’. Since then, he has enjoyed success with a snowball effect: the venues for his tours are getting bigger and bigger, his music is quickly climbing the charts and his fan base is growing by the minute.

This new song ‘Heartbreak Souvenirs’ is exactly what you would expect from this musical genius and so much more. The lyrics describe the all too familiar feeling after a breakup of seeing and feeling your ex in everything you see especially what used to be theirs. The song is full of poetic wordplay that depict such a painful experience in a beautiful and heartfelt way, which is something I deeply admire about Anson’s lyrical ability.

You stained my life, surrounded by these
heartbreak souvenirs saying you were here”

The lyrics are accompanied by an array of instruments like guitars, piano and drums that emphasise the feeling the song gives you in an extremely complimentary way.

Another thing I adore about this song is that it is one of those songs where you can look out the window of the bus and pretend, you’re in a movie too or blare on the speakers in your room and scream along. This song is a must-have on all your best breakup playlists I know it is certainly on mine.
