Song Review: ‘hell of a good time’ by Haiden Henderson

After teasing the song on his social media accounts to build the hype, Haiden Henderson finally released his new song ‘hell of a good time’ on March 15th. Haiden, who calls himself a ‘one-man boyband’ in his Instagram bio, has used the song’s pop-rock boyband sound to promote and spread the song to potential new listeners. He accompanied these posts with captions such as “she only listens to boybands so I wrote this so she’d listen to me”. And the song passes the vibe check; The mysterious feel of the song, combined with the lyrics detailing intense desire for an unnamed woman, could make any pop-rock fan dream of being the subject of this song as if they’re in their very own Wattpad fanfiction.

The song builds up momentum towards the chorus, starting with soft vocals and describing ‘her’: “Her lips are full of sugar, she’ll kiss you then she’ll kill you beware.”  Then, in the pre-chorus, there’s sudden action, describing how she drives Haiden crazy. His desperate vocals combined with the intense instrumentals make you feel as if you’re in a city full of life in the middle of the night. This all builds up to the chorus, detailing the crazy desire he feels for this ‘devilish’ woman: “She gets her way cause she’s beautiful, crazy delusional, dances at a funeral.”

This song has a great vibe, enabling the listener to immerse themselves in the story of the song. Haiden’s description of his mystery woman can just as well be applied to this song: she’s a hell of a good time! Watch the song’s lyric video here.
