Following mysterious billboards and an internet scavenger hunt leading to a song snippet, Baby Queen returned with her new track ‘I Hope You Don’t Remember Me’ on the 30th of January. Luckily for Baby Queen, we do remember her, as this track marks a comeback that is not only strong but also catchy and fun.
The track starts softly, Baby Queen singing over guitar plucking. Along with this starts a sweet sentiment: “Even though it saddens me so to say goodbye, I truly hope wherever you go the sun will shine”

As soon as the chorus hits, the soundscape changes completely: the guitar is no longer there, switching to a steady beat, synths and drums. The choruses consist of simply one line repeating: “I hope you don’t remember me!”
Moving on to the second verse, this includes a bit of both musical sides: drums keep sounding, but the added backing vocals make it sound very sweet once more. Again, Baby Queen wishes someone the best, wishing them a long-term love, but on one requirement: “I hope you don’t remember me!”
Another chorus repeating this line makes the song incredibly catchy. This is followed by an energetic bridge, only increasing the danceable energy of the song. Naming all the good qualities of this person that Baby Queen is trying not to think about ever again, both fondness and a slight bitterness coexist in the message.
The build-up and contrasts between the verses and chorus make the song so fun to listen to, going from slower and sweet-sounding verses to a chorus repeating a mantra over a dance beat. This fits with the contrast in the story that the song tells: wishing someone the best, but also wanting to erase yourself from their memory.
Only mere days after the release of this song, mysterious visuals appeared across Baby Queen’s pages: visuals of gravestones and ‘in loving memory’ phrases, of which we can currently only guess their meanings. One thing is for sure: Baby Queen is an artist who we surely remember, and for good reason, for her ever-catchy alt pop, but ‘I Hope You Don’t Remember Me’ is only the beginning of showing how much more she has in store.
