Song Review: ‘lips’ by Haiden Henderson

Haiden Henderson is back with yet another banger you can dance to in your bedroom. On the 30th of May, the American artist released his latest single ‘lips’, referring to his own lips. In classic Haiden Henderson style, this song is very steamy and definitely not innocent.

The song starts off with Henderson’s low voice: “You should keep your eyes to yourself. I know that you’re curious for a new experience”. These lyrics set the scene immediately, revealing strong themes of desire and tension.

After the first verse, this tension builds even more in the pre-chorus, in which Henderson’s voice gets stronger and goes up in tone. “If he wants a piece, tell him get in line, let him know, let him know, let him know,” he sings, as the song transitions into the chorus.

Here, a stronger bass sets in, complete with a catchy melody and lyrics that you will not get out of your head. “You said you like my lips, well do you want to try them? You like the way they sit, so baby come and ride them,” Henderson sings, and these lyrics immediately point to the song title. The song holds the listener’s attention by making sure that no part feels repetitive; the second verse has a stronger bass, and the second pre-chorus has some lyric changes that make your jaw drop.

Once again, Haiden Henderson has succeeded in writing another song for people to absolutely jam out to. ‘lips’ seems to be part of the artist’s upcoming EP, tension –  if the EP title hints at the themes, ‘lips’ definitely fits in perfectly. Henderson will also be going on tour across the United States coming August. Unfortunately, there is no news about potential Europe dates yet – but we will keep hoping for him to come back! In the meantime, make sure to watch the lyric video for ‘lips’ here.
