After a long wait, according to their fans, Only The Poets released their new single ‘One More Night’ on the evening of the 1st February. The single is the first song on their upcoming EP which will be released in June this year.
The intro quickly introduces the meaning of the song, near-silent begs for ‘one more night’ before transitioning into a faster paced, but still calm, verse. The message of the song is easy to understand just from the first verse. “If I could go right back, I would go right back, I’m ready to go”. It is a song about looking back at your life, longing to revisit and appreciate the moments that have passed.
As the verse fades out with echoes of “I’m ready to go”, it quickly gets replaced by the energetic chorus. The lyrics are belted out in a desperate call to get back to what used to be. It is heavy on the drums and the electric guitar is playing high tunes in the background, emphasising the nostalgic feeling you get while listening to the song.
“It was simple what we lived for, I miss the people that I’d die for, if i could go right back, I’d go right back and I’d let them know”
‘One More Night’ is a song about growing up and honouring the memories. It’s about remembering the friends that you no longer have contact with and looking back at the time where you had no responsibilities. The band explains it as looking back at those times and longing to go back to live in the moment.
Only The Poets is set to tour Europe with 25 shows planned in February to April, followed by a UK tour in June. Considering that the tour name is “One More Night” we can surely hope that we’ll get to experience the song live, surrounded by our friends while doing our best to live in the moment.
