Song Review: ‘Running In Circles’ by Dead Poet Society

Dead Poet Society are a band from Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The members are lead vocalist and guitarist Jack Underkofler, guitarist Jack Collins, Bass guitarist Dylan Brenner and drummer Will Goodroad. They have been making music since 2013. They have been in this industry for almost ten years, which is a long time for a band to hold their ground. While I don’t think you can pigeonhole them into a specific genre, I would put them under an alt rock umbrella.

One thing about me is I’m obsessed with good lyrics, good storytelling and relatability, and Dead Poet Society ticks these boxes perfectly. This song is no different. Their voice is electric with emotion and really hammers home the struggles of staying true to yourself especially when building a career in the music industry. Running In Circles is one of those songs that no matter how many times you listen to it you will always find something new to obsess over whether it be vocally, instrumentally or lyrically. Speaking of the instruments, ‘Running In Circles’ is a perfect example of a song you just wanna learn how to play and jam out to with friends. Another thing I love about this song is the amazing live feel to it. It’s a song that makes me want to immediately run out and buy tickets to one of their gigs. Lucky for us they are have a new Europe tour planned, more on that can be found here!

The band’s realness and unique feel are what makes me incredibly excited for what Dead Poet Society will do in the future.

The band decided to not only give us one song, but give us a second new song. Along with ‘Running In Circles’ they released ‘HURT’, more on that one can be found here!
