Song Review: ‘Sweet’ by dearALICE

After their official debut single ‘Ariana’, British boy band dearALICE is back with a new track called ‘Sweet’. This song, which was released on the 23rd of May, is full of summer vibes and makes you want to get up and dance with the band.

After the first vocals come through, the song immediately starts off strong with a beat: “You’re so sweet, baby, I just wanna taste it”. The lyrics throughout the song are quite different from what we’re used to from dearALICE – while their other songs are also about love, listeners are used to a more innocent tune. ‘Sweet’ is raunchier, sexier. On this track dearALICE show their audience a new side to them.

At the start of the next verse, the instrumentals cut out for a bit, putting more of an emphasis on the smooth vocals and its lyrics: “There’s nothing better than a sip of tea in the dead of summer”.

In the pre-chorus, the song’s speed suddenly picks up: “What do I do, when the tip of my tongue says I’m missing you”. After this, the starting verse is repeated in the chorus, creating a catchy tune that’s easy to remember. Added vocal riffs in the final chorus bring the song to a new level, leaving you wanting more when the song ends.

With ‘Sweet’, dearALICE have definitely scored themselves the song of the summer, no less thanks to the fun choreography. Fans can anticipate the new release live during their set at SMTOWN in London on the 28th of June, which will be their biggest live performance in the United Kingdom to date.
