Song Review: ‘Touch’ by Tess

Tess is a singer-songwriter from Cornwall. Her music sounds like it should be in an indie film, which is a very unique sound that I appreciate a lot. Her voice is very soothing to listen to and her music is certainly something I would put in my anti anxiety playlists.

‘Touch’ is the perfect balance of simplicity and complexity. The guitar and piano are instantly calming and I adore the clarity of them. The lyrics are beautifully written and tell a story of longing and love. This song is painfully relatable and everything about it adds to the telling of the story: the instruments, the way of the vocals, and the lyrics. The simplicity of the instruments lends itself perfectly to focusing on the lyrics that are very clearly written from the heart.

There’s a few stories and experiences that come to mind with Tess’ song ‘Touch’. It makes me think of the feeling of being in a long distance relationship and the awful feeling of having to say goodbye after the rare occasion you get to spend time together. It also reminds me of the experience of longing for someone to love, watching social media and seeing others who have that.

As a writer, this is a song that makes me want to write a book or a film. It’s a song that sets my creativity on fire. It’s a song that makes me want to jump into the world of her music and stay there.

I highly recommend Tess for all your playlists. I know she is going on mine.
