Song Review: ‘What I’ll Choose’ by Castlecombe Drive

British indie pop and rock are gaining more and more popularity and that brings us a lot of new, upcoming bands to listen to. So, let’s make your life a bit easier and recommend a song to check out. Indie group Castlecombe Drive has released their new song ‘What I’ll Choose’ today and we had a listen for you.

‘What I’ll Choose’ follows London-based Castlecombe Drive’s recent outings including performances at Shepherd’s Bush Empire and BST Hyde Park. The explosive single, as they call it, follows their latest single ‘Blue Skies’, which has earned airplay on the BBC radio. Having just played their first headline show of this year, the band is gearing up for the rest. But not without new music!

With guitars full of overdrive and a heavy drum beat, the song starts off energetically. This quickly changes when the vocals start, leading all the attention to his smooth voice. The track is a rollercoaster of different sounds, at times a bit hard to follow, yet nothing feels out of place. From clear vocals to infectious harsh vocals, the lead singer shows his range and nothing sounds unfamiliar to his voice.

‘What I’ll Choose’ by Castlecombe Drive was released last Friday and a snippet of an acoustic version can be found on their Instagram profile. The song is a way for the band to expose their talent and range and although the song tends to be a bit messy at times, it shows that the band is headed for more success.
